Boca Do Lobo Design Studio collaborates with an NYC developer to transform a pied-à-terre penthouse into a larger-than-life designer space.

Some may say a luxury New York City residence's status might be calibrated first by the prestige of a specific address, second by the home's location in said building, and third by the pedigree of the designer's choice of furnishings. Well, if that is the case, then penthouse checks are the boxes of a highly-prestigious residence that adds a level of rare artisanship that stops one dead in their tracks. The main goal of the developer and the design team at Boca Do Loba Design Studio was to transform a 1,450-square-foot model penthouse into a bold yet comfortable statement piece. The result is a theatrical, contemporary showstopper that is equally high-fashion as functional.

"Making a killer first impression is key when creating the atmosphere for a luxury home setting," highlights the design team. To create this ambiance, the design teams sparks a level of phenomenal curiosity of what's to come in the penthouse's entryway with a sizeable Lapiaz Round mirror, an Angra sideboard inspired by the cliffs of Portugal's historical city of Angra do Heroismo, and a pair of glamorous Soleil Gold scones. A step into the opulent living room and a massive marble wall takes center stage. A Soleil seating set, an Imperfectio armchair, a Metamorphosis coffee table, and a fantastic White Garden rug from Rug's Society are paired harmoniously with the wall's hues. The gallery-worthy décor perfectly complements the Kaws pieces that decorate the gathering area. Setting the mood is the imposing Hera Round II Suspension Lamp lights and a collectible grand piano that overlooks the outdoor plunge pool and the cityscape.

In the kitchen and dining area, neutral tones combine the multiple design concepts into one cohesive space. While simplistic, the unique bespoke furnishings with unexpected touches are exquisite. The Soleil dining chairs, featuring handmade gold lions on their backs, surround the bespoke Empire Round dining table as the Oblong cabinet serves as an excellent buffet.

A dramatic staircase leads you to the home office, where the design team also placed its Midas touch. The defining back wall covered with a bespoke bookcase is ideal for a cache of books and collectibles. In contrast, the patterned Alder Rug by Rug's Society, the Venice Wall Mirror, and a Lapiaz sideboard appeal to the artistic vein of the workspace. Taking center stage is a personal favorite of mine - the custom Boulevard Desk, featuring a leather top, lacquered wood, nickel-plated cast brass handles, and stainless steel.
